When it comes to our Super Bowl pick this year, we’ve gone back and forth on who we think will win and why. If we had to lock it in today, we’d probably put our money on Mr. Manning and his Broncos by a touchdown. In honor of the big game, our Bowtie Friday pick this week is actually a pair of bows from The Tie Bar, both of which would like right at home at a Super Bowl party this weekend. No matter who you are pulling for, there’s a Savannah Plaid bow for you.
Earlier this week we touched on the fact that we are absolutely loving the trend of classic brands adding modern cuts to their collections. While some companies are going all out with full lines, Red Fleece for example, others have simply added a new fit to the list of available options for a number of their classic pieces. That’s the road Filson took with their new Seattle fit, and their Bonded Wool Seattle Cruiser is a jacket that we’d love to have in our collection.
Our friends at Huckberry never cease to amaze us with their collection; plain and simple they always seem to find great stuff. That said, in our opinion, today’s featured items are some of the coolest things to ever grace their site. Apparently, the team at Upstate Stock came across some deadstock hats from the 1980 and 1984 Winter Olympics, and, as far as we know, Huckberry is the only place you can buy them.
While the traditionalists may still be fighting it, we’re really liking the direction of the Brooks Brothers Red Fleece line over the past few seasons. Yes, there are still a few pieces that are a bit over the top, but for the most part it seems the line has settled in nicely to a collection of classics with modern cuts. One of our favorite pieces in the current lineup is the Cable Toggle Button Cardigan.
Now that the days are getting longer, we’ve found ourselves, once again, on the hunt for sunglasses. We have a bit of a problem when it comes to shades in that we can’t seem to settle on one pair. For day to day wear, we tend to stick with classic frames, but that term can be relative. While they may not be as established as a pair of Wayfarers or Aviators, we think Oakley Frogskins are a classic in their own right.
With no logo, a great fit, and a feel unlike any polo in our collection, KP MacLane‘s polo shirt has become a mainstay in our rotation, and we’re looking forward to adding a few more to our wardrobe this Summer. In the meantime, we’ll be picking up a white one a few months earlier than expected thanks to the brand’s first ever sale. From now until Thursday, all of their white polos are 50% off. Trust us, you won’t be disappointed.
Whether you love it or hate it, you have to admit that the Maryland state flag is one of the most unique in the country. Of course, we absolutely love it, and are proud to sport it whenever we can. Not only will you find us wearing the state pattern from time to time, you’ll also find it in our homes in the form of a print from our friends at Old Try. Recently, we identified a version of the flag that we can’t wait to get our hands on. It’s from an artist named Chris Knight, and we’ve become semi-obsessed with his incredible distressed wood flags.
In an effort to forget just how cold it is here, we’re celebrating Bowtie Friday this week by thinking warm thoughts and revisiting one of our favorite warm weather bowties. This week’s pick is the Topless Beau by Southern Proper, we originally featured it back in the Summer of 2012, and it’s been a mainstay in our collection ever since. The post below originally ran on June 1, 2012.
Just when we thought we were finished hitting the Winter clearance sales, we realized we hadn’t perused the virtual storefront of Unionmade in quite some time. Turns out their semi-annual sale is in full swing, and there are some absolutely fantastic deals to be had. Below you’ll find a few of our favorites.
As every guy knows, finding the right cologne can be nerve racking to say the least. We tend to find something we like and stick with it for years on end, but every once in a while you have to make a change. Recently, we were turned on to a brand out of North Carolina called Fulton & Roark that is turning out some pretty great solid colognes. To say we were intrigued would be an understatement.
