Ladies and gents, we have a bit of a confession for you. What started as the hunt for a new navy pin dot tie has led us down a path that somehow left us thinking that we need to add a few more polka dots to our wardrobe. Of course, doing so tastefully with ties is easy but we’re looking for a bit more this season. Our first step into the great unknown may just have to be the Polka Dot Polo from our friends at Brooks Brothers.
We’ve finally reached that time of year when virtually all of our jackets with any weight to them have been retired for the foreseeable future. That being said, it’s always nice to have a lightweight option at the ready for those mornings or evenings that still have a bit of chill to them. One option that we really like is the Flyweight Quilted Chelsea Jacket from Barbour.
With a picture perfect forecast this weekend, we’re heading out to the course in hopes of knocking the rust off of our golf swings. It’s sure to be quite the spectacle, but at least we’ll be out enjoying the gorgeous weather. As always, we’ll be doing our best to implement the “look good, feel good, play good” plan. Lately, that has involved a Players Shirt from Criquet just about every time we head out for a round. The post below originally ran on July 24, 2012.
Over the past couple of weeks, the question we have received most is “What bowtie should I wear for {insert equestrian event here}?” It’s impossible for us to pick just one, but we’ll be doing our best over the next few weeks to suggest some suitable bows for the occasions at hand. This week, our pick comes from our friends down in Charleston. It’s the St. Philip’s Sunday 4.4 Bow from Social Primer by K. Cooper Ray.
We’ve been pretty up front about how much we love Ledbury’s Short Run shirting program. The set up allows them to introduce us to a handful of great looking shirts each month and also experiment a bit more than many of their peers. Overall, we think there have been far more hits than misses, and this month is absolutely no exception. One of our favorite patterns, Starks Gingham, makes two appearances in the latest short run collection and we love them both.
When we think of the landscape out West, we find ourselves drifting between rugged mountains, or vast fields filled with wild horses and buffalo. Yes, we realize that view is completely sensationalized, but it is what it is. When it comes to footwear inspired by the region we tend to think of boots and the like, but our friends down at Buffalo Jackson are doing their best to change that with options like their Laramie Horse Bit Driving Shoes.
We love soaking up the sun as much as the next guy, but we still can’t get on board with the short shorts trend. To us, shorts that are too short are just as bad as those that find themselves bordering on capri territory. If you’ve been on the hunt for something that finds a happy medium between the two extremes, you are going to love the Club Shorts from Southern Proper.
One of our favorite things about the Spring and Summer is the fact that we can break out some seersucker whenever we see fit. We’re huge fans of the fabric, and find ourselves constantly looking for more to add to the rotation. Of course we already have a classic white/blue seersucker suit at the ready, but we’ve decided it’s time to add another seersucker suit to our collection. This time it’s the Navy Beauregard by Bonobos.
We’re a pretty patriotic bunch around here, and proudly so. You’ll frequently see us sporting the red, white, and blue in some form or another and this weekend is no exception. Over the next couple of days, the American Flag Needlepoint Hat from Smathers & Branson will be accompanying us wherever our travels take us. To all of the men and women who keep us safe both home and abroad, we are damn lucky to have each and every one of you and can’t thank you enough for all that you do.
Go enjoy the weekend folks, and if you see someone in uniform make sure to tell them thanks. It’s the least we can all do.
It’s been pretty well documented that we are suckers for just about anything with an anchor motif. From shirts to pants to belts to ties, our collection of anchor adorned apparel runs the gamut, and it’s about to grow by one piece. Available in extremely limited quantities from our friends at General Knot & Co., our bowtie Friday pick this week is their Heather Anchor Print and Scarlet Chambray bow.
