There are a few things that you can never have too many of, and, in our opinion, gingham shirts are on that list. They can be worn with just about everything, and have a classic look that will never go out of style. Recently, our friends at Salmon Cove were generous enough to send us the latest gingham addition to their lineup, The Savannah ($88*).
We do our absolute best to keep an eye on what is new and what some of our favorite brands are bringing to market, but sometimes things fall through the cracks. Luckily for us, we have some absolutely awesome Twitter followers who keep us honest and let us know when they see something great. That is exactly what happened last week when it was brought to our attention that Smathers & Branson had finally released something we’ve been hoping they would for some time now, State Flag Belts ($165).
Our schedules have been pretty crazy lately, but not so crazy that we haven’t been able to sneak in a couple of rounds of golf this summer. Unfortunately, the golf games are looking pretty rough this year. That being said, we keep coming across great looking golf shirts, so it looks like were going to have to keep working on our games so they look as good as the shirts we keep finding. One we really like is the Wide Stripe Polo ($98.50) from Peter Millar.
It seems like just about everyone is at the beach this week. In fact, earlier in the week we managed to sneak away for a few days to enjoy the sun and the sand ourselves. Unfortunately, we couldn’t play hooky all week, and it is back to business as usual for us. In a form of silent protest (or maybe just wishful thinking) we’ll be breaking out a bowtie that always reminds us of the beach this Bowtie Friday, the Starfish Bow ($45) from Vineyard Vines.
Though we can pretty much get away with boatshoes just about anywhere in Annapolis, we do like to change things up a bit from time to time. Recently, we came across a shoe that is the absolute perfect pick for those days that we want to give the boatshoes a rest, but don’t really feel like wearing a pair of traditional loafers. The Pinch Penny Loafers from Rancourt & Co. ($210) have managed to fill a void that we never knew existed in our ever expanding shoe lineup.
One of our favorite parts of summer is the travel. Whether it is a day trip to NYC, or a quick weekend escape to the beach or mountains, as much as we love Annapolis, it is always a nice change of pace to get out of town for a day or two. In fact, just a couple of weeks ago, on a day trip to NYC, we were fortunate enough to have drinks with the guys from Hudson Sutler. Their just released ‘Sconset Weekend Duffel ($120) is a must if you are planning on getting away this summer.
There are times during the summer that you just have to let your feet breathe a little bit. Yes, our boatshoes are the “go to” choice 90% of the time during the summer months, but every once in a while we have to break out the flip flops. This summer, a new pair has hit the market that combines are beloved boatshoes with a classic flip flop. They’re called the Flipjacks ($69.50), and we have to thank our friends at Southern Tide for bringing them to market.
It’s been over a year since we first tried on a pair of Costa Del Mar Tag sunglasses, and we have yet to find another pair of shades that are better suited for a day of activity. From a day on the boat, to a day at the beach, if we know we’re going to be spending a full day being active in the sun, the Tags are the glasses we grab every single time. Below, you will find our original post on these fantastic sunglasses, it ran on May 28, 2011.
It’s the last Bowtie Friday before one of our favorite holidays, the 4th of July. While we can appreciate all of the stars and stripes bows that have hit the market as of late, we feel like those are relegated to only a few wears a year, and we prefer something a bit more versatile. That being said, we’re absolutely going to be representing the red white and blue on the 4th with this week’s pick, the Independence Beau ($45) from Starboard Clothing Co.
