Though we can pretty much get away with boatshoes just about anywhere in Annapolis, we do like to change things up a bit from time to time. Recently, we came across a shoe that is the absolute perfect pick for those days that we want to give the boatshoes a rest, but don’t really feel like wearing a pair of traditional loafers. The Pinch Penny Loafers from Rancourt & Co. ($210) have managed to fill a void that we never knew existed in our ever expanding shoe lineup.
Currently available in three colorways, the Pinch Penny Loafers pair the upper of a traditional loafer with the same sole Rancourt uses on their Ranger Mocs. The result is a loafer that is a step below a traditional loafer on the dress scale, but a touch more polished looking than a standard pair of boatshoes. Of the three options currently available, our favorite is, without a doubt, the Color 8 Chromexcel paired with the honey colored sole (shown). If none of the three colorways that are currently available tickle your fancy, but you like the idea of a moc sole on a loafer, make sure to drop the team at Rancourt a line, they are more than happy to accommodate custom orders.
