It took us a while to come around, but we think it’s about time that we add a pair of boatshoes with a vibrant sole to our collection. Luckily for us, there is a new crop hitting the market today. In conjunction with Barney’s, our friends at Sperry Top-Sider are releasing four limited edition pairs of our all time favorite boatshoe, their iconic 2-eye A/O. Available only at Barneys New York, and in limited quantities, these shoes are sure to go fast.
Back in January of last year, we posted about the Timex 1600 that was made exclusively for J. Crew. Well, we never pulled the trigger, yet the watch has lingered in the back of our minds ever since. Thanks to a great discount code (MUSTHAVE) on all sales items that is valid through tomorrow, and the recent addition of the 1600 to the sale rack, this watch will soon go from our minds to our wrists. If you’ve been waiting to pick one up, now is the time. The post below originally ran on January 11, 2011.

After yesterday’s big announcement, we felt like it would be a bit of a letdown if we didn’t follow it up with a Bowtie Friday giveaway to round out the week. Luckily for us, our friends down at The Cordial Churchman were up for a contest. Today, we are happy to announce that a lucky Bowties & Boatshoes reader will soon be the proud recipient of the Wilbur Bow from their Pulpit Supply collection.
Over the past couple of years, we’ve been fortunate enough to team with some awesome brands for some absolutely fantastic giveaways. That said, it’s going to be pretty tough to top today’s announcement. We can, without question, guarantee that the winner of this contest is going to receive a prize that is truly personal. Why? Because they are going to design it. Thanks to the guys behind Hudson Sutler, one lucky Bowties & Boatshoes reader is going to design a bag that will become a part of the Hudson Sutler line, and they’ll be receiving the first one!
Though it pains us to admit it, our collection of sport coats and blazers is severely lacking. We’re always on the hunt for that next great addition, but for one reason or another we rarely end up pulling the trigger. In an effort to rectify the situation as quickly as possible, we are officially on the hunt for a few new coats to fill the gaps. For casual wear, the Boiled Wool Blazer by Canvas Lands’ End is high on our list.
Okay, we admit it, we have an unhealthy infatuation with outerwear. Though a handful of classic pieces can easily get you through the year, we like the idea of mixing it up as often as possible. Lately, we’ve found ourselves trying to add some more quilted options to our jam packed coat closet. One jacket that caught our attention recently comes from L.L. Bean. It looks like we’re going to have to make some room for the recently released quilted jacket from their Signature line.
We are firm believers that the best part about gifts is giving them. We truly take joy in running features that involve giveaways from many of our favorite brands, and love seeing the emails we receive back from those who are lucky enough to win. Though we aren’t directly involved, we wanted to make sure to spread the word about a big time giveaway some of our friends are kicking off this week. Country Club Prep and Southern Proper have teamed up for something huge, they’re calling it the Great Gentleman’s Holiday Giveaway, and you are absolutely going to want to enter.
It’s been a little over a year since we featured the hat collection from State Traditions, and to say their line has grown since then would be a huge understatement. Now available for 49 states (sorry Maine), the US as a whole, and a few places abroad, there is now a hat in the State Traditions line for just about anyone. The feature below originally ran on September 15, 2011.

We’re always interested in seeing bowties made from materials that are traditionally found in other pieces of our wardrobe. Chambray, seersucker, and even oxford cloth are already represented in our collection, and we’ll soon be adding some new material to the lineup. Thanks to the design team at The Tie Bar, our bowtie collection is about to have a few bows made from suiting wool. First on the list is their Brown Herringbone option.
