Though a weekend without football seemed a bit odd, we were happy to catch up on some serious golf coverage over the past couple of days. As much as we wish the weather here was a bit more condusive to getting out for a few rounds in the coming weeks, we’re going to have to stick with TV coverage and trips to the heated range for at least another month or so. While we were watching coverage of the Pro-Am at Pebble, we couldn’t help but notice Chris O’Donnell showing support for his brother’s company, johnnie-O. One thing from their lineup that will definitely see some wear from us when we get back on the course is their Long Sleeve 4 Button Polo.
With Nemo dumping more snow than anyone should have to deal with on our friends to the North, we couldn’t help but head back into the archives this weekend in search of some of the warmest pieces we’ve reviewed. One of our absolute favorites is the classic Mackinaw Cruiser by Filson. The post below originally ran on December 22, 2011.
After a Ravens Super Bowl win on Sunday, and a huge celebration on Tuesday, the state of Maryland is still in a bit of a purple haze. Though we still prefer college sports to the pros, we’ve definitely found ourselves caught in the moment and have managed to work in a little purple to our look a few times this week. That being said, we thought it’d be fitting to cap off the week with a purple bowtie giveaway. Thanks to our friends at Dogwood Black, someone is going to be the winner of their great looking Plum Bow Tie.
Yesterday we watched high school kids from around the country sit down behind a line of hats, pick one up, and tell the nation where they’d be heading to play college ball. As two guys who were far from D-I (or II or III for that matter) caliber athletes, the closest thing we have in common with most of these guys is that we too enjoy a good hat from time to time. One of our favorites as of late is the America Traditional Hat from our friends at State Traditions.
Before we know it, it’ll be time to start shedding the layers we’ve been piling on for the last few months. That being said, we definitely like the look of an extra layer from time to time, and even as the weather begins to warm up over the next few months we’ll still be adding a light sweater pretty frequently. Luckily for us, Bonobos just released the latest additions to their collection of Tipping Point sweaters.
Whenever we can, we patronize the small brands out there that are building their name one piece at a time. Unfortunately, many of those small brands do not have a retail presence in our area, so when it comes to sizing things can get a bit tricky. We’ve found that shoe sizing is the trickiest of all, and with price points that aren’t very conducive to ordering multiple pairs to test, we’ve found ourselves playing the guessing game on more than one occasion. Luckily, there will be no more guessing for those of you interested in shoes from Rancourt & Company thanks to their new Made to Fit program.
Well, things didn’t go quite according to plan after the power outage, but regardless of the extra grey hairs that we probably have now, the Ravens are bringing the Lombardi trophy home to Maryland. We couldn’t be happier for the team, and will absolutely be showing our support in the office today. No, we aren’t breaking out the Concords again, but a shirt like the Purple Mckinsey Oxford from Ledbury definitely isn’t out of the question.
With the Ravens in the Super Bowl we’re definitely a bit more invested this year than we have been in years past. That being said, regardless of who is playing, there is one constant for each and every Super Bowl party we have, Old Bay Crab Dip. The post below originally ran on February 4th, 2012.

Back in August, it was absolutely our pleasure to be the first website to feature and give away a bowtie from the Social Primer by K. Cooper Ray line. Today, it’s our pleasure to announce that we once again get to be the first to give away a brand new bowtie from the collection. Part of the upcoming “Independence Dandy” group of bows, the Broad Stripes & Bright Stars reversible bow is definitely going to fly off the shelves.
For quite some time we’ve been on the lookout for a vintage leather duffel. One that we can use for weekend trips, or something a bit longer, and looks like it has been around the world once or twice. After searching high and low, and coming up empty, we’re starting to think a better plan might just be to break in a bag of our own so we can tell the story of each and every battle scar. If that’s the route we end up taking, the Twain Duffel by Korchmar is the perfect starting point.
