About seven months ago, we started hearing a buzz about a company that was bringing moisture-wicking dress shirts to market. Of course, our first thought was that Under Armour type material would make for a terrible dress shirt. Luckily for us, the two guys behind the brand thought the same thing, and came up with their own blend of fabric that performs the same way, yet looks like a standard shirting fabric. Seemingly overnight, the company that was producing one shirt has grown to a full on brand and the latest addition to their shirting lineup may be their best yet. This weekend, in honor of Mother’s Day, and to raise awareness for Breast Cancer, players across Major League Baseball will be sporting all sorts of pink gear and even swinging pink bats. Around here we may not have custom cleats laying around, but we definitely have plenty of pink. To show our support, we’ll be turning to a staple piece in our collection, a Pink Classic All-Cotton Slim Fit Supima Oxford from Brooks Brothers.

Every once in a while Bowtie Friday turns into a more casual affair, but just because we aren’t tying on a bow doesn’t mean we aren’t going to participate in one of our favorite weekly traditions. Luckily for us, there are a ton of options out there that will allow us to show our love for bowties in other ways. For those Friday’s that we find ourselves on a boat or on the golf course, we think the go to pick for the next few months will have to be the Seersucker Cisco Shorts with Bowties from Castaway.

Every once in a while you have to throw caution to the wind and go out and splurge on something. For us, when those times come about we tend to go straight for a pair of shoes or a piece of clothing we’ve been coveting. Well, while their products are certainly splurge worthy, we got lucky a few weeks back when the fine folks at KP MacLane sent us one of their fantastic polos to check out, we’d been giving serious thought to pulling the trigger on one for quite some time.

We always consider it a small victory when a friend or coworker decides to take a bit of a risk with their wardrobe after a bit of prompting from us. We are firm believers that everyone should have their own personal style, but it is definitely flattering when you know a piece ended up in someone’s collection based on your recommendation. Yesterday, that piece was a pair of spearmint Roberson washed twill pants from Peter Millar. For a friend who normally sticks to the basics, and has given us a hard time about Go To Hell pants for years, it was a huge step.

Over the course of a typical week it’s pretty rare for us to run into more than a handful of bowtie aficionados. Well, thanks to our friends at The Quinntessential Gentleman, this week will be far from typical. Tomorrow night we’ll be in attendance as the team behind The QG comes together to celebrate a couple of our favorite things: Bourbon & Bowties. They’re expecting quite a crowd and everyone in attendance will definitely be sporting a bow.

It seems that subscription based services have become the latest trend across a number of arenas as of late, and, to be honest, we love it. For events like the Kentucky Derby, we are firm believers that you have to respect the tradition and keep your attire in line with the event at hand. Luckily for us, Churchill Downs is the perfect place to break out two of our favorite things, seersucker and bowties. Of course, having just a little bit of fun with your look is never a bad idea, and small touches can truly make all the difference. For those of you who tend to think the same way, we have a feeling you’ll love the White/Green Derby 100’s from Walk-Over.

We can’t believe that we have already reached the last Bowtie Friday before the Kentucky Derby. The emails are still rolling in asking what bowtie is the best pick for the races, and today we’re going to be giving one lucky winner their choice of one of the three recently released plaid bows from Starboard Clothing Co.’s summer line. For quite some time we’ve been on the fence about popover shirts. Sure, they’ve been around for ever and ever, and many consider them a piece that belongs in every man’s closet, but we’ve never been bold enough to give one a whirl. Literally, there have been times when we’ve chickened out at the last minute and put one back on the rack. After waffling for far too long, we’re taking the plunge into the world of popovers with the recently released Blue Seersucker Popover from Sid Mashburn.
