In downtown Annapolis just a stone’s throw away from the water, and nestled between a fantastic coffee shop and one of our favorite Italian restaurants sits The Pink Crab, a Lilly Pulitzer Signature Store that is a favorite shopping destination for virtually every girl we know.  Of course, with wives who love Lilly, we find ourselves perusing the Pink Crab inventory pretty regularly, and on our last visit we were happy to see three great looking bowties staring right back at us.  Now, thanks to the ladies at The Pink Crab we are happy to announce that we’re giving away one of those bowties to a lucky Bowties & Boatshoes fan.

Show of hands, who is going out of town this weekend to celebrate the official unofficial start of summer? Another show of hands, who has started packing? If you’re like us packing will start far too late the night before you leave, and may or may not be completed by the time you are supposed to hit the road. Regardless of when you do your packing, we don’t think there is a bag better suited for Memorial Day weekend than the Yorktown Weekender Duffel from Hudson Sutler.

Everyone knows that the details are what really make or break a look.  This time of year, we find that the one detail piece that can make a huge difference is a great looking belt.  Just when we thought our rotation was locked in for the next few months our friends from Sir Jack’s added the Sailing Hook Belt to their collection.  Needless to say, it looks like at least one more addition will be made to our summer lineup. If you want to add this great looking belt to your rotation, today might be your lucky day.  Thanks to Sir Jack’s, we’re happy to announce that a lucky Bowties & Boatshoes reader will win their choice of the belts featured above.

Not that long ago, we were looking through some old photographs and realized that we got pretty lucky with the clothes our parents chose for us as youngsters.  In fact, many of the things we were wearing in those old pictures hang in our closet in adult sizes today.  Apparently, the team at L.L. Bean Signature has also spent a great deal of time looking through old photos and we sure are glad they have been.  Their recently released 1988 Pique Polo is definitely a welcomed trip down memory lane.

The Biarritz by Maide

On May 20, 2013, in Sweaters, by Ryan & Ben

Today is our favorite kind of workday; it’s a day that our office for the day will be the local country club while we play eighteen with a few clients.  Luckily for us, there are a few brands out there now that have created lines of golf gear that we can wear to the office and not feel completely out of place until we head out to the course.  One of those brands is Maide, and their Biarritz cardigan is the perfect example of a piece that transitions from the office to the golf course with ease.

Two weeks ago, all eyes were on Churchill Downs as Orb stole the show and won the first leg of the Triple Crown.  This weekend, those same eyes will be watching the festivities of the 138th annual Preakness Stakes at Pimlico just up the road from us in Baltimore.  Just like the Kentucky Derby has their famous Mint Julep, the Preakness has a drink of their own.  Known as a Black-Eyed Susan, the recipe has undergone some changes this year, and we’re looking forward to mixing a couple.

Lately, it seems like a number of brands have been in such a hurry to expand their lines that they leave creativity at the door and simply slap their logo onto a new product and call it a day.  Luckily, the team at Southern Tide took the opposite approach when they decided it was finally time to take the plunge into the world of bowties, especially with their Paisley option.  Not only is it our favorite of the inaugural class, it’s also the bow we’ll be giving away today.

It’s finally the time of year that we find ourselves on, near, or even in, the water far more often than not.  With boats in the water, temperatures rising, and beach trips on the horizon it’s about time that we refresh our swimwear collection.  If you find yourself in the same place, we’d definitely recommend checking out the shorts from Blaze-In Sportswear.  The guys there were kind enough to offer a pair for us to try, and we sure are happy we took them up on it.

Though we are still far from giving up our boatshoes, we’re continuing our efforts to expand our footwear collection this Spring and Summer, and luckily for us there are some really fantastic options out there this year.  One shoe that recently caught our attention comes from one of our favorite boatshoe makers.  It’s the Made In Maine A/O Penny Loafer from Sperry Top-Sider.
