Two weeks ago, all eyes were on Churchill Downs as Orb stole the show and won the first leg of the Triple Crown.  This weekend, those same eyes will be watching the festivities of the 138th annual Preakness Stakes at Pimlico just up the road from us in Baltimore.  Just like the Kentucky Derby has their famous Mint Julep, the Preakness has a drink of their own.  Known as a Black-Eyed Susan, the recipe has undergone some changes this year, and we’re looking forward to mixing a couple.

To make this year’s version of a Black-Eyed Susan you’ll need the following:

1 1/4 oz. Finlandia Vodka

1/4 oz. St. Germain Liqueur

2 oz. Lemon juice

3 oz. Lemongrass & Blackberry simple syrup

6 drops of Angostura Bitters

Once you’ve secured the proper ingredients, add them all to your favorite 12 oz. glass, top it off with ice, and stir.  If your feeling extra fancy you can garnish with a sage leaf like they’re doing up at Pimlico this weekend.  (Who are we kidding here, there is no chance we’re adding a sage leaf.  Enjoy the race everyone!)
