When executed properly, we love when designers or artists take something that we see commonly and rework it into something that would have never crossed our mind.  Of course, there are many times when this just does not work.  A perfect example of a failure would be the meat dress Lady Gaga wore a while back.  A perfect example of success would be the Miansia Bracelets ($55 – $105) for J. Crew.

Let’s be honest, you have probably never heard of Miansia.  Luckily, J. Crew is bringing a few of their pieces to the masses, and we couldn’t be more pleased with their selections.  Currently, their are three Miansia bracelets available via J. Crew (hook, rope, and wrap).  Each inspired by something we spent a lot of time with this weekend, nylon boat lines.  Though they may take you back to the days of neon friendship bracelets, these  are made out of rope sourced from a company that provides lines to the US Coast Guard.  Trust us, this stuff is the real deal, just re-purposed to add a bit of style to your wardrobe.
