Traveling can be rough. Whether it is a long road trip, or a flight across the country, getting from A to B is stressful. The last thing you should have to deal with upon arrival to your destination is having to re-iron everything that you have packed, so a high quality garment bag is key. There are a ton of choices when it comes to bags, but, of course, we prefer something a bit different than the norm. Thankfully, Ella Vickers has created a Garment Bag ($86) that looks as great as the clothes you put in it.
As much as we hate to admit it, thoughts of Fall have started to creep into our minds. Sure, the summer is great, but days on end of sweltering heat and humidity tend to get old after a while. While we will surely enjoy every last second of summertime, it doesn’t mean that we haven’t started pulling together pieces that are going to be key to our Fall wardrobe. One pair of boots that have certainly caught our attention are the Crepe Sole Moc Boots ($179) by L.L. Bean Signature.
There are very few things we enjoy more than teeing it up on an early weekend morning. While rolling out of bed earlier than we do during the week can be rough, all of those cobwebs disappear as soon as we step on to the first tee box. Of course, we are firm believers of the mantra “If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good.”, so just because we are out the door early it doesn’t mean our fashion sense gets left at home. In honor of this weekend’s Open Championship, we thought it would be fitting to profile something stylish for the golf course, and the Albatross Pants ($175) by Bonobos fit the bill perfectly.
From large to small and bright to subdued a classic gingham print is never out of style. Sure, such a simple print may be a bit boring to some, but we love the added bit of depth it adds to a look. Most of the gingham in our wardrobe comes in the form of sport shirts, but of course there are a few exceptions to that rule. It should come as no surprise that one such exception is a Gingham Beau ($55) by Southern Proper.
This year, it seems that more women’s brands than ever before have added a bit of nautical flavor to their summer lines. From sailor stripes, to boat necks, to the occasional burgees, nautical themes are prevalent on everything from t-shirts, to shorts, to sweaters, and everything in between. One piece that does a fantastic job of conveying a nautical feel without being too over the top is the Anchors Away Dress ($95) by Madewell.
After a long day at the beach, one of our favorite things to do is get cleaned up and head out with friends. From dinner, to drinks, to random beach town activities, it seems like there is always something to look forward to while we are relaxing in the sand. If you end up spending too much time in the sun, keeping cool for your evening activities is key, and you can never go wrong with a classic sport shirt. A very fitting option for an evening in a beach town is the Oceanside Plaid Sport Shirt ($89.50) by Southern Tide.
As summer has progressed, and office attire has turned a bit more casual, we have done our best to work in a pair of boatshoes from time to time. While we know we can’t get away with it all the time, there is just something about showing up in a great pair of boatshoes that keeps a smile on our faces all day long. While some may think boatshoes aren’t “nice enough” for the office, we tend to disagree. Honestly, the quality on a number of pairs out there is far better than many “dress shoes” on the market. One such pair is the aptly named Boat Shoe ($249.99) by Quoddy.
Whether it is medical, historical, or environmental, it seems like everyone has a cause that means more to them than others. For two friends in South Carolina, that cause is the conservation and preservation of the loggerhead turtle. Luckily for us, those two friends launched a clothing line aptly named Loggerhead Apparel. Their flagship product, the Bellwether Polo ($64), is helping spread the word about this threatened species one shirt at a time.
At Bows & Boats our love for koozies borders on obsession. Along with our keys, wallet, and cell phone, a koozie is something that we make sure to keep close by just in case the need arises. Of course, our collection has grown at an unhealthy pace over the years. Honestly, there is a chance that you could make a full wetsuit out of all the neoprene we have accumulated. That being said, the neoprene koozies have been staying home as of late. Why, you ask? Because we are using a Leather Koozie ($29.95) courtesy of Buffalo & Company.
It is hard work to successfully put a nautical spin on something that doesn’t usually show up on a boat. Yes, we are suckers for t-shirts with old charts and nautical flags, but beyond that there isn’t much in our wardrobe that shows our love for the water (excluding boatshoes, or course). Recently, our friends at Kiel James Patrick released a line of bowties, and to say they have succeeded in putting a nautical spin on one of our favorite things, a bowtie, would be an understatement. While the whole line is great, one that really stands out to us is the Kit Spinnaker ($65).
