Boat Shoes by Quoddy

As summer has progressed, and office attire has turned a bit more casual, we have done our best to work in a pair of boatshoes from time to time.  While we know we can’t get away with it all the time, there is just something about showing up in a great pair of boatshoes that keeps a smile on our faces all day long.  While some may think boatshoes aren’t “nice enough” for the office, we tend to disagree.  Honestly, the quality on a number of pairs out there is far better than many “dress shoes” on the market.  One such pair is the aptly named Boat Shoe ($249.99) by Quoddy.

Quoddy was founded in 1909 in Maine, and their shoes have been made there ever since.  Sure, the factory has moved, but other than that, not much has changed in the last century.  Just like all of their shoes, the Quoddy Boat Shoe features a handsewn moccasin construction.  Literally, these things are stitched by hand, and if the shoemaker isn’t happy with the final product they cut the stitches out and start again.  Made of water-resistant Horween Chromexcel leather, the boatshoes are available in black, brown, and navy.   While we prefer the traditional white deck sole (shown), Quoddy also offers a camp sole in charcoal or brick for those of you who don’t plan on heading out to sea.  No matter which combination you choose, the high quality materials and top notch craftsmanship of the Quoddy Boat Shoes will keep them in your rotation for years to come.
