Yacht Club Boat by Cole Haan

On April 20, 2011, in Mens, Shirts, by Ryan & Ben

In our world, there is no such thing as too many pairs of boatshoes.  Sure, there will always be some that get worn more than others, but having some variety for the season never hurt anyone.  One thing that many people seem to have an issue with is the lack of cushioning in the more classic looking boatshoes.  Of course there are plenty of options out there with a ton of cushioning, but if you are looking for a more classic silhouette that still has great cushion look no further than the Yacht Club Boat ($148) by Cole Haan.

Eastport by Ellen Allen

On April 19, 2011, in Accessories, Womens, by Ryan & Ben

Around Annapolis boat traffic is starting to increase, and our visions of days on the Severn river are getting closer and closer to reality.  Not only is boat season coming soon, our summer trips are so close we can almost smell the sea air.  One thing that the ladies in our lives never leave the house without when we are heading out for a day near the water is a tote bag.  Of course, something basic will always do the job, but with a number of more lively options out there, why not add a bit of style to your common tote?  One piece that we really like is the Eastport ($250) from Ellen Allen Annapolis.

Cisco Embroidered Shorts by Castaway Nantucket Island

On April 18, 2011, in Mens, Shorts, by Ryan & Ben

If you are like us, you have already liberated all of your favorite shorts that were boxed up for Fall and Winter from the depths of your closet.  While the opportunity to wear them has been hit or miss as of late, that doesn’t mean we haven’t tried once or twice just to see if it was warm enough yet.  While we primarily like to stick with solids (from khaki to colors that are far more interesting), one company has really impressed us with the quality of their embroidered shorts.  That company is Castaway Nantucket Island, and their Cisco Embroidered Shorts ($98) will absolutely be in our rotation this summer.

Chuck Taylor All-Stars by Converse

On April 16, 2011, in Classics, Shoes, by Ryan & Ben

It is amazing how many things that we wore as kids have found their way back into our adult wardrobes.  Apparently, long before we were shopping for ourselves, our parents were making sure that we had the prep look down pat.  Even though we tend to live in our Topsiders on the weekends, there are times when a basic pair of sneakers is necessary.  For those times, one pair that will never let you down is a classic pair of low-top Chuck Taylor All-Stars ($45) from Converse.

Ludlow Sportcoat by J. Crew

On April 15, 2011, in Jackets, Mens, by Ryan & Ben

After a long week in the office, there is nothing better than a few cold drinks with friends on a Friday evening.  Whether it is a local dive bar, or the most popular spot in town, as long as the company is good and the drinks are cold, we really don’t care where we end up for happy hour (or hours, depending on just how rough the week has been).  The key to a successful transition from work to play is a versatile wardrobe, and one piece that makes the transition seamlessly is the Ludlow Sportcoat ($138-$995) by J. Crew.

Chambray Long Sleeve by J. Press

On April 14, 2011, in Mens, Shirts, by Ryan & Ben

It is no secret that we are excited to finally break out some of our favorite lightweight fabrics and bold colors this month.  While our love of seersucker and madras has already been well documented, another fabric that we are eager to work back into the fold is chambray.  This lightweight cotton that was once known as the go to fabric for work shirts has made quite a resurgence in the fashion world over the past few years, and once piece that we really like is the Chambray Long Sleeve ($145) by J. Press.

Shop Profile: Commonwealth Birding

On April 13, 2011, in Shop Profiles, by Ryan & Ben

We always love hearing what our readers think we should review, and luckily, last month, our friend Charles suggested that we check out a company based out of Virginia called Commonwealth Birding.  After a little bit of research, we realized that CB was much more than a clothing line, it is a full on lifestyle brand centered around the love of quail hunting.

When we reached out to the company to introduce ourselves, the proprietors could not have been more welcoming.  Not only did they offer to send some gear our way to review, they invited us out to their preserve to really see what CB was all about.  Needless to say, we jumped at the offer, and this “shop” is unlike any we have ever seen.  As opposed to the traditional retail spaces that most of the shops we profile occupy, Commonwealth Birding sits on a piece of land in a small town outside of Richmond, VA called Amelia Court House.

On April 11, 2011, in Mens, Pants, by Ryan & Ben

After a cold and dreary winter, there isn’t much better than breaking out your spring clothes and adding a much needed shot of color to your everyday wardrobe.  Hopefully, wherever you are reading this, the temperatures are up, and your favorite splashes of color are starting to work their way back into the rotation.  Inspired by what must have been a pretty rough winter, Bonobos has recently released their Redrums ($88).

Golf Course Necessities

On April 9, 2011, in Accessories, Hats, Mens, Womens, by Ryan & Ben

What would Masters week be without a true “gear post”? Sure, we have touched on a couple of on course pieces this week, but what better day than Masters Saturday to tell you about a few things that always tend to find their way out on the course with us when we hit the links.
