Each and every month we look forward to the Ledbury Short Run shirting release.  We are always interested to see what our friends from Richmond are bringing to market, and month after month we find ourselves impressed.  This month is absolutely no different, and there are certainly some gems in the latest release.  Our favorite this time around is the Barrett Box Check.

Images: Old Try

Yesterday we featured a collaboration from a couple of companies that have each been around long enough to be considered “old timers” as far as brands are concerned, Ray-Ban and Brooks Brothers.  Today’s feature is another collaboration, and while the brands that came together to create these great looking prints may be in their infancy, we’d definitely consider them “old souls.”  From our friends at Old Try and Buffalo Jackson come a pair of National Park prints that have us ready to pack up and head out West in search of adventure.  Thanks to the gents behind the brands we’re happy to announce that one lucky Bowties & Boatshoes reader is going to the proud owner of the proprietors proof* of each one.

When it comes to sunglasses, we switch things up almost daily.  Depending on what we’re wearing, what we have planned, or simply how we are feeling, our shades range from classic, to sporty, to whatever you might call the eyewear equivalent of go to hell pants.  We all know that for a classic preppy look you can’t go wrong with a pair of Ray-Bans, but Brooks Brothers has taken that sentiment to a whole new level by adding repp stripes to two of our favorite silhouettes.

It’s a t-shirt kind of weekend here at Bowties & Boatshoes.  With a few chores to knock out, a couple of errands to run, and not much else on the books, we’re looking forward to some much needed downtime over the next couple of days.  Last week, our friends over at Country Club Prep posted what might be our favorite t-shirt design of the season.  From Southern Point Co. comes the Periodic Table of the Southern Gentleman Tee.

Galloway Red Bowtie by Collared Greens

On March 1, 2013, in Bowties, by Ryan & Ben

Every once in a while we run across a bowtie that goes from unknown to must have in the blink of an eye.  Sometimes it’s a fun design that makes us smile, and others it something simple that just seems to work.  In the case of this week’s Bowtie Friday pick, it was the fact that it was the first time in ages that we had seen a patriotic tartan print in bowtie form.  From our friends at Collared Greens comes the Galloway Red Bow.

With new additions to Spring and Summer lines rolling out nearly every day, it looks like we’re going to be making some serious additions to our wardrobes in the coming months.  Recently, another wave of warm weather goods hit the Canvas Lands’ End racks, and there were certainly a few pieces that caught our attention.  At the top of the list is their Lightweight Chambray Shirt.

Spinnaker Boatshoes by Sebago and Filson

On February 27, 2013, in Footwear, by Ryan & Ben

For the last couple of months, we’ve longed for a day when it would be appropriate to break out our boatshoes.  Sure, there have been a couple of days that we went sans socks, but going all out with the boatshoes would have been a bit much.  That being said, had we had a pair of the Spinnaker Boatshoes that Sebago and Filson came together to create in our rotation we may have been singing a different tune.

Oxleys by Bonobos

It’s official, Spring fever is at an all time high here at Bowties & Boatshoes.  We’re ready for baseball games to count, we’re ready to roll the windows down, we’re ready to put away the heavy coats, and we’re ready to make some warm weather additions to our wardrobe.  It’s a foregone conclusion that a pair or two of Oxleys from Bonobos will be in the rotation in the coming months, the decision we need to make is which colors make the cut.

Image: Sir Jack’s

As easy as it is to keep a few belts in rotation that you know will match just about everything in your closet and wear them over and over, we’re not big fans of that train of thought.  Sure, it might be easy, but small touches make a huge difference and the right belt and buckle can be that final touch that turns something from good to great.  One of our favorite buckles out there is the Oyster Shell from Sir Jack’s, and today we’re happy to announce that one lucky Bowties & Boatshoes reader is going to be adding that buckle, along with a fantastic belt to their collection.

The weatherman tells us that our weekend is going to be filled with chilly temperatures and occasional precipitation.  With a to do list that’s going to have us running around a bit, having a jacket to keep us warm and dry is a must, so we’ll be turning back to the Nano Puff Jacket from Patagonia.  The post below originally ran on February 2, 2011.
