We’re pretty big technology junkies here at Bowties & Boatshoes. Always on the hunt for a new gadget or gizmo, we love this stuff almost as much as our normal subject matter. For our second gift guide of the season, we’re featuring a few of our favorite tech picks.

It’s high time we got on the ball and got a few gift guides out for the year. Today we’re kicking things off with a group of gifts that we think just about every traditionalist will love.

We’re big fans of pop-up shops. Not only do they allow us to get hands on with the wares of some of our favorite online retailers, we’ve also found the experience is typically far better than a traditional retail store. Earlier this week, our friends at Huckberry unveiled their own version of a pop-up. Dubbed the Huckberry Holiday Home, this place is taking the world of pop-ups to the next level.

Last month, in response to a tweet we sent out thanking our Veterans, we got a note from a Veteran owned business just down the road from us in Alexandria, VA called Bull+Moose. A newcomer to the industry, these guys are turning out some fantastic ties at incredible prices. One of our favorite pieces in their collection is the Camo Bow.

We’re still putting the finishing touches on our gift guides for the year, but, in the mean time, we’re happy to say that the gift set we curated last year for our friends at Ewin’s Dry Goods is being revisited in 2013. We took the wraps off of this one back on November 5, 2012.

When it comes to layering, a great looking vest is invaluable. This season, one of our favorites comes from Southern Proper. Their Varsity Vest will make a solid addition to any cool weather wardrobe.

For days when conditions are really bad, we will always turn to our favorite pair of Maine Hunting Shoes from L.L. Bean. For those days that aren’t great, but don’t require the big guns, we prefer something with a bit more style. Recently, we stumbled across the Long Branch Wingtip Boots from Allen Edmonds, and now it looks like we may be adding another pair of casual boots to our rotation in the very near future.

We find ourselves talking pretty regularly about “staple” pieces for our wardrobes. From khakis, to blue blazers, to a comfortable pair of loafers, these basics are always a great pick, and will never be out of style. That said, it is quite possible that the absolute quintessential staple piece to any wardrobe is a white dress shirt. If yours has seen better days, or you just need to add a few more, you’re going to want to take a look at the Blackman 2.0 from Mizzen+Main ASAP.

Over the last several months, Criquet Players Shirts have become something of a weekend staple for us. They look great, they feel great, and they are well suited for just about everything we find ourselves getting into. With temperatures dropping, our short sleeve Players Shirts will soon be replaced with their long sleeve counterparts. Luckily for us, two new colors have recently been added to the lineup.

Instead, we tend to spend the day catching up with family and friends and gearing up for the rest of the holiday season.
