With the 4th of July just around the bend and the US Men’s National Team making some noise down in Brazil, we’re feeling extra patriotic as of late. Luckily, there are a ton of fantastic USA themed products on the market right now, and high on our list of favorites you’ll find the Stars and Stripes Shade Straps from Knot Clothing.
For as long as we can remember, the highlight of just about every Summer has been an annual trip to the beach. As kids, all that we cared to take with us was our favorite swimsuit. Now things are a bit different. and even when we’re heading out for a week of R&R a bowtie or two always finds it’s way into our bag. This year, one of those ties might just have to be a Seaside Paisley Bow from Collared Greens.
It’s been hot here lately, really hot. Like so hot we’re starting to question if we are really as happy as we think we are that Summer has officially arrived. Luckily for us, we know a couple of guys who have a line of dress shirts that are made just for days like we’ve been having. Of course, we’re talking about Mizzen + Main, and if you haven’t picked up their recently released Wilde shirt, we’d recommend doing so ASAP.
World Cup fever has officially taken over at Bows & Boats. Two weeks ago we figured our World Cup themed coverage would start and end with our 1994 USA Soccer Shorts post, but we’ve been completely sucked into the action. Yesterday we even found ourselves interested in the Brazil vs. Mexico match (so much for only watching team USA)! Of course, we’re not the only ones who have jumped on the World Cup bandwagon and that means lots of bold color options on some classic silhouettes. Sperry Top-Sider decided their classic A/O boatshoe was the perfect canvas for a handful of World Cup inspired color combinations, and the resulting “Flag Day” collection is definitely going to turn a few heads.
Ok, after yesterday’s dramatic win over Ghana, we get it. We’re still not sure how so many of our friends get just as invested into games that don’t involve team USA, but you better believe we’ll be glued to the screen cheering on the Yanks the rest of the way. To celebrate the win, today we’re highlighting a few patriotic picks from our friends at Smathers & Branson.
Just down the road from us, in Washington, DC, there’s been quite the fashion movement over the past few years. There are a handful of great young brands down that way who are starting to make some noise on a national level, and one of our favorites is Hugh & Crye. Not only are their shirts great looking, their unique fit system has left us with shirts that fit just as well as custom, without the hassle. A couple of weeks back Hugh & Crye sent us a new addition to their collection to check out, they call it Dean.
Right about the time Bowties & Boatshoes launched, we both became fathers for the first time. Since then, we’ve both added another kiddo to the our respective families, so to say it’s been a crazy few years would be quite the understatement. So today we’re kicking back, taking it easy, and enjoying all the joys life has to offer. If you’re a dad, we hope you’re doing the same.
Happy Father’s Day all!
-Ryan & Ben
If you happen to run into us on a weekend, chances are one of us will have on a Signature Cap from Starboard clothing. It’s been that way for the last couple of years, and the odds of it changing are slim to none. The post below originally ran on July 23, 2012, and that patina we mentioned back then is looking even better these days.
There are some days that you simply have to say “the hell with it” and wear whatever you want knowing you’re going to get a few comments about your attire. We tend to do that pretty frequently in the Summer with our collection of go to hell pants, but we may be taking things to the next level with this week’s bowtie Friday pick. The gang at Castaway has really outdone themselves with their Harbor Pants with Embroidered Bowties.
You know the drill friends, we want to hear from you. Leave us a comment here, or drop us a line on Twitter or Facebook and let us know what you think about the Vineyard Vines Flag Check Breaker Pants. Would you wear ’em?
