Over the years, we’ve amassed a handful of red pants that see a surprising amount of wear.  From washed out Nantucket Reds, to a pair of Bonobos Cherry Bombs, we’re proud to wear red in all hues, and soon another pair will be added to our collection.  Just yesterday, our friends at Jack Donnelly released a limited run of their Carter in Red.

When it comes to well curated collections, you’d be hard pressed to find a better site than Huckberry.  Our friends out West frequently feature brands we love, and even more frequently introduce us to those that we need to learn more about.  Today we’re excited to announce that one lucky Bowties & Boatshoes reader is going to win a $100 in Huckberry cash.  To find out how to win, and what we would buy if we had $100 to spend, keep reading. Midweight Pocket Tee by American Giant

On July 12, 2014, in Shirts, by Ryan & Ben

Image: American Giant

We’re pretty picky when it comes to t-shirts.  For the most part, other than a handful of favorites that have been carefully curated over the years, we like to stick with solids.  Recently, we came across what may just be the perfect solid t-shirt.  It’s the American Giant midweight pocket tee.

Gingham Seersucker Bowtie by J. Crew

On July 11, 2014, in Bowties, by Ryan & Ben

Image: J. Crew

Our love for all things gingham and seersucker has been pretty well documented over the years, and when we find them combined correctly, it’s pretty much a guarantee that the piece will find it’s way into our collection.  That’s certainly the case with today’s Bowtie Friday pick, the Gingham Seersucker Bow from J. Crew.  Proudly made in the USA, this 100% cotton bow features an Estate Blue gingham print on a bright white base.  Finished off with a diamond tip, this is one of those ties that you’ll find yourself going to again and again all Summer long.

Sale Alert: Oak Street Bootmakers

On July 10, 2014, in Footwear, by Ryan & Ben

Images: Oak Street Bootmakers

Gents, if you’ve had your eye on anything from Oak Street Bootmakers, now is the time to pull the trigger.  We been singing the praises of Oak Street since the early days of Bowties & Boatshoes, and our feelings haven’t changed.  In fact, we love them more now than ever, and their products remain constant in our rotation.  Rarely, if ever, do Oak Street shoes go on sale, but, until Sunday, the entire collection is 10% off.  You really can’t go wrong with any of their offerings, but if we were forced to choose a favorite it would be a toss up between the Beefroll Loafers and their classic Boatshoes.

Canvas Mashburn Shorts by Sid Mashburn

One of our favorite things about Sid Mashburn is the balance of products in the store.  Whether you’re looking for a new pair of Levis, or a made to measure suit, they’ll get you taken care of and have you looking great in no time flat.  This balance also comes into play with a number of Mashburn’s house branded products.  Many can be easily dressed up or down, and their Canvas Mashburn Shorts certainly fit that bill.

Duck Head is back!

On July 8, 2014, in Events, by Ryan & Ben

Image: Duck Head

As of yesterday Duck Head is officially back.  They made a brief re-emergence a couple of years ago, and now it looks like they’re back for good.  With a collection that includes modern versions of some of our favorite pieces from way back, as well as some new items that we can’t wait to get our hands on, we have a feeling that things for Duck Head are going to be a little bit different this time around.

As bummed as we are to see the Men’s National Team already back on US soil, we’re proud of the guys, and have to thank them for getting us to actually give soccer a chance.  If you happened to see photos of Tim Howard coming home, you may have already seen the great looking Yanks Weekender Duffel that our friends at Hudson Sutler created exclusively for the team.  Well, they were exclusively for the team.  Turns out, Hudson Sutler is releasing a limited run to the general public, and pre-orders are being accepted now.

Fireworks by Old Try

On July 5, 2014, in Events, Home, by Ryan & Ben

Image: Old Try

Every year we forget just how much we love the 4th of July until the day arrives.  Then it’s family, friends, cookouts, fireworks, and great weather, what’s not to love?  To keep those memories alive all year round, we’ll absolutely be adding the newest print in the the Old Try lineup to our personal collections.  They call it Fireworks.

Yes, we know there are a ton of flag inspired bows that we could have featured today, but we’re going with something a little bit different.  Our choice this week is one that we featured a couple of years back, and has remained in our rotation ever since, the Independence Beau from Starboard Clothing.  For a limited time, our readers can save 25% on this bow, or anything else in the Starboard collection, when they use the code FIREWORKS at checkout.  The feature below originally ran on June 29, 2012.
