As much as we love our Weekenders, we’ve been thinking about stepping our watch collections up a bit as of late.  Though you won’t see us wearing a Rolex just yet, we’re definitely getting the itch to pick up something new.  Recently we were turned on to a company based in Detroit that is turning out a great looking watch that may just end up being the next one in our collection.  Yes, you read that right, Detroit.  From Shinola comes the Runwell.

Years ago Shinola was associated with one thing, shoe polish.  Though the polish is no longer available, the brand name is currently undergoing a serious revitalization in Detroit.  Available in limited quantities (1500 of the 40mm version and 1000 of the 47mm) the Runwell is up for preorder now and will be shipping in July.  The watches are made in a state of the art facility that Shinola built in Detroit and feature a hand assembled Argonite quartz movement that you won’t find in any other watch in the world.  With a sapphire crystal and stainless steel case, the Runwell has an appeal that is as timeless as the name of the brand that stands behind it.
