While many will complain about “losing” an hour of sleep this weekend, we’ll be happily moving all of our clocks up an hour and enjoying the extra hour of daylight.  In fact, to celebrate the occasion we may have to go out and pick up another Timex Weekender.  Priced right, and more versatile than we could have ever imagined, these watches have become a favorite for us.  The post below originally ran on December 27, 2011.

For the last few months, we have been on the hunt for a new to us vintage watch.  Unfortunately, we haven’t found anything that has been the perfect combination of quality, age, price, and looks just yet, so our searches on ongoing.  When we do finally track down that perfect watch, it is going to go into the rotation as a casual option that nylon straps can be swapped in and out of as months go by.  Recently, we finally took the time to stop and try on the Timex Weekender Slip Thru , needless to say we have found a very suitable stand in until our vintage search concludes.

While they may not be luxury timepieces, there is no denying that Timex makes extremely serviceable watches.  For about $30 (check your local Target), even if you only wear the Weekender sporadically, you will get your money’s worth virtually right off the bat.  Available with an off white, black, or grey face paired with a silver case, the Weekender is an understated watch that will lend itself well to just about any nylon strap you can find.  While our “off the shelf” pick is the off white face with olive strap (shown) we have a feeling we will be swapping out straps quite frequently depending on the look we are going for and time of the year.  If you have found yourself on a similar never ending search for the perfect vintage watch, pick up a Weekender.  Who knows, maybe it will be the end to your searches.  In an absolute worst case scenario you end up with a great looking watch for an extremely nominal investment and that is definitely not a bad place to be.
