Regular Fit Flannel Lined Chino by J. Crew

At Bows & Boats, we’ve spent a lot of time talking about layering, but until now all of that talk has focused on the upper body.  Beyond a pair of heavy wool socks, many of us simply deal with the cold when it comes to our lower body.  Sure, some heavy denim will work if you are just running from a car to shelter, but what about those days where you know you are going to be spending a few hours out in the cold.  Long underwear is always an option, but our choice is a pair of Regular Fit Flannel Lined Chinos ($69.50) from J. Crew.

We all know that J. Crew is a “go to” store when it comes to well priced simple classics, but it is the small things that are a twist on those classics that keep us checking in even when we don’t “need” anything new.  Their Regular Fit Flannel Lined Chinos are a perfect example of one of those simple twists.  Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel with an entirely new option for cold weather, J. Crew simply took their two-ply cotton twill chinos and added a layer of flannel for extra warmth and called it a day.  They are a simple solution that we definitely appreciate for an afternoon spent cheering on the home team, or a late season round of golf.
