The Sully Boat by Frye

Every year, we get pretty bummed when we have to retire our boatshoes for the season.  To be honest, that really isn’t the case when the winter boots get put away.  In fact we are pretty excited that other than a pair of waxed canvas Maine hunting shoes, and the occasional appearance of desert boots, we won’t be wearing anything taller than wingtips for the foreseeable future.  That being said, we were recently turned on to a pair of boatshoes made by a company that is virtually synonymous with boots, Frye.  Their Sully Boat ($148) is a great addition to any boatshoe rotation.

Frye offers their Sullys in both smooth and pebbled leather, and while both options are definitely solid, if we had to choose, we would go with smooth based solely on the color options.  With rubber soles, moc-like construction, and leather laces, the Sullys have all of the features of a classic boatshoe, but on a silhouette that is just a bit more modern silhouette.  Available in burgundy, navy, green, camel, and a navy/green combination, the smooth leather Sullys will definitely turn a couple of heads this year, and we aren’t complaining.
