Saturday Reading – Preppy: Cultivating Ivy Style

On January 14, 2012, in Home, by Ryan & Ben

You know when you were a little kid and you wanted to play with every Christmas gift as soon as you opened it regardless of what was still waiting to be unwrapped?  Imagine if we told the little you that the gift that would make you feel that way on Christmas in 2011 was a book.  While the younger versions of ourselves would have never believed it, that is exactly what happened when we opened up Preppy: Cultivating Ivy Style by Jeffrey Banks and Doria De La Chapelle.  We literally started reading the second it was out of the box.

First and foremost, Preppy is not a full blown history of prep, it is more of an overview of how we got to what is considered preppy today.  With fantastic photos, and a number of interesting tales of how certain pieces came to be seen as prep staples, the book features some of our favorite classics as well as a number of new pieces that still maintain that classic preppy feel.  Whether you are looking for some style inspiration, or just something to dress up your coffee table, Preppy: Cultivating Ivy Style is for you.
