Now that we’re closing in on the Thanksgiving shopping season, it seemed like an ideal time to discuss the need to have a solid coat in your wardrobe. Many times a simple Fleece will do, but there are times when it’s simply not enough. One of our favorite new options is the Authentic Peacoat with Thinsulate® ($275.00) from J. Crew.

The Authentic Peacoat is a classic nautical East Coast favorite. We love J. Crew’s version of this classic because it stays true to many of the details that vintage coats would offer. The coat is available in 3 colors (Navy, Black, and Charcoal) and features anchor buttons and angled kissing welt pockets. J. Crew paid close attention to peacoats of old in their construction of the coat, but their wool with optional Thinsulate lining is far more comfortable than anything sailors were wearing in past.

Although the coat is available without the Thinsulate lining ($255), at Bows & Boats we all agreed that it was worth our extra twenty dollars for the warmer coat. This mix of warmth, comfort, and classic style offers a great option for fall and throughout the rest of winter.
