Earlier this week we attended the grand opening event for the Sperry Top-Sider store in Annapolis.  After a few opening statements from local politicians and Sperry brass, the ribbon was cut and all of the guests were welcomed into the store for an evening of food, drinks, and, of course, shopping.  After checking out the new store front and making a few new friends, it was time to head into the “boathouse” and try on some shoes.  One shoe that we very happy to finally get hands on with was the Boat Oxford ($80-90).

An interesting mix of a boatshoe and an oxford, the Boat Oxford is certainly a unique look, and probably one that could only be pulled off by Sperry.  While the shoe is available with both washed canvas and leather uppers (Sahara leather is shown), we definitely think leather is the way to go this time of year.  Of course, no matter which upper you choose, the Boat Oxfords feature a siped, non-slip sole that will make sure you keep traction everywhere from a wet deck to a wet sidewalk.  Though we are sadly getting closer and closer to having to retire our boatshoes for the season, the Boat Oxfords are going to be a fantastic substitute when the cold weather decides to settle in.
