About a month ago one of our founders, Ben, had the good fortune to run across the website of a small South Carolina company called The Cordial Churchman.  We have been obsessed ever since.  In June of 2009, The Cordial Churchman came to life when Ellie Laveer began making bowties after she had some seersucker fabric leftover from a coverall outfit she was making for her son. Encouraged by her husband, Ellie has built a cottage empire that now provides bowties for people all over the country.

It took about a week before Ben finally placed an order.  The only reason it took so long was that there were so many great choices!  After a week of agonizing, the decision was made and a Classic 2 3/8″ Butterfly ($23) in Pink Gingham was ordered.  The Gingham Bowtie, pictured above, is offered in 7 different colors, and customers are encouraged to specify exactly what type of Bow they prefer.  Choices include a Classic 2 3/8″ Butterfly, Diamond Point, Straight Style, or a Narrow 2 1/4″ Butterfly.  The Cordial Churchman allows customers to request that the tie be made reversible (one color per side) or in a half-and-half style. Honestly, if you can dream it up, Ellie and her team can probably make it a reality.
