Just because we’re raising a few of our inseams this Summer, it doesn’t mean we are quite ready to raise them all.  In fact, we’ve been on the hunt for something a bit longer that can take a more abuse than a standard pair of chino shorts without looking too utilitarian, and it looks like L.L. Bean Signature has us covered with a recent addition to their collection.  Their Washed Canvas Cloth Shorts are just what we’ve been looking for.

The best part about the Washed Canvas Shorts is that they came about somewhat organically.  The story goes that an L.L. Bean designer was in the Grand Tetons and when he needed a pair of shorts he simply cut the legs off of his trusty LL. Bean Washed Canvas pants.  We’ve all been there, and it seems that those makeshift shorts end up seeing more wear than we’d care to admit.  Made from 100% cotton canvas, and featuring a 9 inch inseam, these shorts will stand up to some abuse, but look far more polished than those cut offs that are buried in your drawer.  Available in Barley (shown), Currant, or Dark Graphite, these will look right at home weather you’re out in the woods or just tipping a few back down at the local dock bar.
