Wool Elbow-Patch Sweater by Polo Ralph Lauren

On December 20, 2010, in Mens, Sweaters, by Ryan & Ben

This time of year, it is not uncommon for us to wear a sweater nearly every day of the week. We have already talked about the Cotton Crewneck Sweater by Polo Ralph Lauren, and while a couple of those are still in rotation as layering pieces, the colder the weather gets, the more we tend to shift towards wool and cashmere.  If you are looking for something a little different than your typical wool sweater, we recommend the Wool Elbow-Patch Sweater ($99.99 – $165) by Polo Ralph Lauren.

Muddler Corduroy Club Pants by Vineyard Vines

On December 18, 2010, in Mens, Pants, by Ryan & Ben

This time of year, heavy fabrics are key if you are going to be spending any time outside.  With wind chills in the teens, and snow in the forecast, a pair of cotton chinos just won’t cut it.  Of course, you could go with something flannel lined, but you could also go with something a bit heavier like a solid pair of corduroy pants. If you are in the market, we recommend the Muddler Corduroy Club Pants by Vineyard Vines ($98.50 – $175).

Redpoint Vest by The North Face

On December 16, 2010, in Mens, Outerwear, Womens, by Ryan & Ben

Vests are tough to pull off when it comes to casual wear, but when worn properly they are a good looking, functional, addition to any cool weather outfit.  Unfortunately, if you manage to make an error in judgment when adding a vest to your wardrobe, you are probably going to hear about it from your friends.  For example,  if your vest is too puffy, be ready for Marty McFly comparisons.  We have no issue with “puffer” vests of reasonable “puff”, but overall we prefer the sleeker look of the Redpoint Vest ($99) by The North Face.

On December 9, 2010, in Shop Profiles, by Ryan & Ben

Like we have said before, if you aren’t well groomed, you aren’t going to make a good impression.  Unfortunately, if you are a guy who is looking for a little more than what your typical barber shop has to offer, you are often stuck going to a women’s salon, or simply grinning and bearing it at your local discount hair studio.  Luckily, over the last few years, we have noticed a trend of “Men’s Grooming Parlors” popping up in large cities throughout the US.  One of our favorites is The Quinntessential Gentleman in Baltimore, MD.
