We’ve been fortunate enough to get some pretty great groomsmen gifts over the last few years, but only one goes with us everywhere we go. No, it isn’t a flask, it’s a pocket knife. Whether you’re looking for a gift for your buddies, or just something to add to your everyday carry list, the No. 1 Original Brass Knife from Colonel Littleton is the perfect pick.
It’s a low key kind of bowtie Friday here in Annapolis this week, and we’re going sans tie. Our pick today is one of our favorite bowtie themed items, the Bowtie Print Needlepoint Belt from Smathers & Branson. The feature below originally ran on January 25, 2013.
It’ll be hard for us to ever refer to this day as anything other than September 11th, but we’re still doing our best to embrace today at Patriot Day. We’re lucky to live in the land of the free, and we have the utmost respect for all of the brave men and women who protect us at home and abroad. Today’s pick is one that gives back to those who put their lives on the line for us; the Remember Everyone Deployed shirt from our friends at Mizzen+Main.
This time of year, a casual pullover is a key piece to any wardrobe. We’ve been sporting the classic Patagonia Synchilla Snap-T for years, but it’s about time for an upgrade. We’re not ready to move completely away from Patagonia after so many years of loyal service, so we’re sticking with them and picking up a Diamond Quilt Snap-T Pullover.
We were pretty excited to see Duck Head emerge from the darkness earlier this year, and we’ve kept a pretty close eye on them ever since. While the original lineup of the new Duck Head stuck with classic offerings like khakis and polos, its already expanding, and we love what we’re seeing. One of our favorites of the collection is their Chambray Dixie Shirt.
Black Watch is one of those patterns that is truly timeless. The deep blues and greens make for a plaid that is simply perfect for the cooler months, and we’ve been known to sport it in many forms. Traditionally, Black Watch pants are wool, but this season Brooks Brothers decided to put a bit of a spin on the classic with their Black Watch Chinos.
A few years back Sid Mashburn teamed up with Tretorn to put their spin on a classic pair of Nylites. The result, with its eye catching neon yellow hand dyed upper, has become a go to for us for the last couple of Summers. Just yesterday, we laid eyes on the latest Masburn and Tretorn collaboration, a Dark Grey Flannel Nylite. While their flannel upper may be a nod to Mashburn’s bespoke suiting offerings, this pair is made to be paired with your favorite pair of jeans or beat up chinos.
Our relationship with the color black as it pertains to wardrobe choices has evolved quite a bit over the last couple of years. For quite some time, the only time you’d see us wearing it was at a black tie event or the occasional sporting event. That certainly isn’t the case anymore, and soon we’ll be working the hue into our bowtie collection thanks to High Cotton Ties’ just released Black Gingham bow.
Though J. Crew continues to introduce more fashion forward pieces with each season, we still find ourselves stopping in time and time again to check out the more classic pieces in their collection. Luckily for us, even with the recent focus on trendier options, there are still plenty of timeless options for us to choose from. For example, the Lambswool v-neck sweater.
As seersucker goes away corduroy comes out, and every year we find ourselves on the hunt for another pair or two of corduroy pants to supplement our rotation. This year, one pair that we’ll definitely be picking up comes from Bonobos. Their Light Brown French Corders look fantastic.
