In our opinion, every major holiday deserves to be celebrated in full prior to beginning to decorate for the next one. That being said, now that Thanksgiving is officially over, we are going full bore into Christmas mode. Before we know it, our houses will be fully decorated, and presents will be wrapped and under the tree. Because all of that can’t happen overnight, today we are going to start getting into the spirit with the Woody & Tree Bowtie by Vineyard Vines.
With a virtually unlimited supply of sport shirts on the market, it can be quite the daunting task to find one that fits just right without too much tailoring. Luckily, in the last few years a number of up and coming companies have realized that this generation likes their shirts a bit slimmer and trimmer than those our fathers wore. One company that has done a fantastic job when it comes to a “custom like” fit is Salmon Cove, and their Mackinac Button Down is a solid addition to any Fall wardrobe.
We love it when an established brand isn’t afraid to bring in someone from outside of their immediate circle to create a few collaboration pieces from time to time. Not too long ago, Barbour did just that with Japanese designer Tokihito Yoshida. Known for creating very technical and functional articles, Yoshida has turned out to be a great asset to the Barbour brand. Now in it’s fifth season, the Beacon Heritage Collection designed by Yoshida is full of pieces that we love. This season, our absolute favorite is the Sporting Wax Quilt Jacket ($499).
As much as we love to dress up, and are firm believers that it is always better to be overdressed rather than underdressed, there are few things we enjoy more than finding a pair of jeans that fit absolutely perfectly straight from the rack. Sure, there are tons of premium brands out there that make nice pairs of jeans, but finding something that not only fits well, but maintains the classic look that we think jeans should always have is way harder than you think. As of last week, one of our favorite brands, Bonobos, has officially entered the denim market. To say we are impressed with what we have seen so far would be an understatement.
This time of year, our Saturday uniform consists primarily of jeans, a button down, and a sweater of some sort. Whether it is a classic cable knit, a simple cardigan, or something else, there is just something about throwing on a sweater on a cool Fall morning that feels right. On a recent trip to J. Crew, our attention was immediately drawn to the Fair Isle Sweater in Navy ($98). We have a feeling this one will be coming home very, very, soon.
Though last Friday marked the “official” celebration of Veterans Day, we are firm believers that those who have served, and those who are currently serving, deserve to be praised every day of the year. If you feel the same way, we have a feeling you are absolutely going to love today’s Bowtie Friday pick, the Corporal Spires Digital Camo Beau ($45) from Starboard Clothing Co.
Recently, we were introduced to Gulf Shore, an up and coming lifestyle brand from Florida. Needless to say, after a quick look at their website, we knew it was a company that we should know more about. After trading a few emails with their team, they sent a pair of shirts our way and we found ourselves the proud owners of their flagship product, the Snapper Polo ($59.50), and now we are happy to announce that Gulf Shore wants to send one to of our readers as well.
Some are far worse than others, but literally every girl we know is always on the hunt for that next great bag. You could probably say the same thing about us and bowties, so we can’t give y’all too hard of a time, but it still baffles us to see you “trying on” a bag to see how it looks. Anyway, because we know you are always on the prowl, we would be remiss if we didn’t tell you about a bag that has recently caught our eye, the Daytripper in True Brit ($33) by SCOUT.
It will never cease to amaze us how many people out there think that ties are only for special occasions. Apparently, in the minds of some, unless you are attending a wedding, funeral, or special event, they are just not needed. Needless to say, our stance on the subject is quite the opposite. In fact, the majority of our ties tend to have a bit more of a casual feel. A great example is the Jean Wash Check Slim Tie ($79.50) from Brooks Brothers.
