We’re pretty picky about our boatshoes around here, and, for the most part, we’ve stuck with a handful of brands for as long as we can remember.  Well, after hearing about them for quite some time, we are happy to report that another brand is now in our rotation.  Just last week, we were finally able to get our hands on a pair of Yachtsman boatshoes from Category 5.

The brainchild of a college student who thought it would be a great idea to stamp his fraternity letters on a pair of boatshoes, Category 5 has quickly gone from a project in an entrepreneurship class to a full on boatshoe company.  In fact, the brand just launched a kickstarter campaign to expand their line to include a new shoe for men as well as a ladies option.  If the Yachtsman is any indication, the new shoes are definitely going to be a hit.  Made of high quality leather, the flagship of the Category 5 lineup is hand-stiched and has a full length EVA insole for added comfort.  The shoe features a unique heel cup for a fit that molds to your foot virtually right away, and minimizes the “break in time” that has become the norm with most boatshoes on the market.  Currently available in three colors (oak, mahogany, and walnut), and with an ever growing list of custom stamping options,  the Yachtsman is certainly going to see some heavy wear in our rotation.
