Whether you know the name or not, we would be willing to bet that if you are reading this post you are familiar with the work of Millard “Mickey” Drexler. Mr. Drexler is the reason why GAP got as big as it did, Apple has stores that just about everyone else tries to copy, and J. Crew remains one of the very few places in the mall that we will actually visit. We’ve been fortunate enough to have a few interactions with Mr. Drexler over the years, and each and every time we have been truly impressed by his passion for the work that he does. In honor of Mickey’s birthday (it’s tomorrow) our Bowtie Friday pick this week is the Floral Bow from J. Crew.
Made from a unique linen/silk blend, the J. Crew Floral Bow has an interesting texture that lends itself well to both casual and more formal looks. Hand crafted in the USA, this bowtie is 2 1/8 inches at it’s widest, and the diamond point finish is always a nice change of pace from a traditional butterfly bow. Before anyone complains that tie pictured above isn’t perfectly tied, we are going to go on record and say we’re okay with it. To us, bowties are all about your own personal style, tie them however you see fit.
