Beefroll Penny Loafer by Oak Street Bootmakers

On January 14, 2011, in Classics, Mens, Shoes, by Ryan & Ben

When we find a brand we really like, we tend to spend a lot of time browsing their website and hunting for our next purchase.  About a month ago, we profiled the Brown Boat Shoe from Oak Street Bootmakers, and ever since that post we have been making regular visits to their website and fawning over some of their incredible shoes.  Our latest obsession is their Beefroll Penny Loafer ($250).

As with all of their products, Oak Street makes these loafers right here in the USA.  The craftsmanship that goes in to each pair rivals any fancy pair of Italian dress shoes that may be in your lineup, and though Oak Street notes on their website that shipping may take up to six weeks, these shoes are worth the wait.  The brown Horween® Chromexcel® leather is perfectly complimented by a contrasting stacked leather heel and sole, and the hand stitched moccasin construction is absolutely top notch.  While these shoes are best suited for a casual look, they can absolutely be dressed up if you plan correctly.  Style Note: If you are planning on adding a penny, we highly recommend digging through your change jar until you find one that is actually made of copper (pre 1982).
