It’s hard to believe that this Sunday will mark the tenth anniversary of September 11th.  Like the rest of our generation, we can tell you exactly where we were and what we were doing when we found out our great nation was under attack.  Far too many lives were lost that day, and the actions of our enemies will never be forgotten.  Though September 11th will never be a day of celebration, we are firm believers that it should always be remembered.  This week we are bending the bowtie Friday rules a bit and profiling both a bowtie and a traditional tie that have been created to raise awareness for the 9/11 Memorial (shown above).

First up is the 9/11 Memorial Bow from BowTie Cause ($57).  This 100% silk, black bowtie features the word Reunite in white and teal in an interlocking pattern.  BowTie Cause founder Dhani Jones feels that “we all need come together to make this world a better place while embracing our differences,” and that “the 9/11 Memorial provides the place for that thought process to occur.”  We couldn’t agree more.

Second is the 9/11 Memorial Tie from Brooks Brothers ($78).  A version of the famed BB#1 striped tie, this tie is hand finished in New York City, and features the black, teal, and white color palette used in the 9/11 Memorial logo.  Recently, we saw a few pictures of the Brooks Brothers store near ground zero on the day of the attacks, and to say they were a bit chilling would be an understatement.

Of course, proceeds of each of these great looking ties go to benefit the 9/11 Memorial.  To learn more, visit www.911memorial.org.
