A couple of weeks ago we talked about our visit to Commonwealth Birding down in Amelia Court House, VA. While we have already explored one part of their business, guided hunts, there is one piece we have yet to really dig in to, their apparel line. While most companies tend to focus on one thing or the other, the experience, or the apparel, Commonwealth Birding is working to bridge that gap and create a line of apparel that is truly tied to the lifestyle it portrays. After our hunt last month, Commonwealth hooked us up with a number of pieces from their building line of apparel and accessories, needless to say they have all been well used ever since.
First and foremost, the CB Tee ($20). Of course, every new line has to have a t-shirt and Commonwealth Birding is no exception. Appropriately dubbed The CB Tee, the 100% cotton tee is about as basic as it gets when it comes to branded tees. Featuring the Commonwealth Quail logo flanked by a simple C and B on the pocket, and a larger version of the Quail with the full on company name on the back, this shirt is available in tan, green, white, and, of course, orange.
Second, the Upland Belt. Available in both D-Ring ($22.50) and Leather Tabbed ($26.50), this versatile belt is the perfect choice for a weekend out in the country. Made down in South Carolina, each belt pairs a thick cotton webbing with CB branded nylon ribbon. A great compliment for a pair of jeans or chinos, this belt is sure to hold up to the longest of days out on a hunt.
Finally, the CB Sunglass Strap ($8). For their sunglass strap, CB did things a little differently than most brands. Instead of traditional neoprene, they have paired a polypropylene backing (it feels like a very thick, strong, canvas) with with their signature logo’d nylon ribbon. To ensure the pieces do not separate, the nylon is stiched onto the backing. While the strap takes a bit of time to break in, it is definitely worth the effort.
