Coutura Kinetic Perpetual by Seiko

Watch reviews have been few and far between here at Bows & Boats, because, honestly, it’s hard to pick just one with so many great options on the market. However, when you can not wear a watch for 4 years, then pick it up, give it a few shakes and be right back on time, you’ve got something special. That’s why we feel like the Coutura Kinetic Perpetual ($750) by Seiko was worth writing about even with its somewhat hefty price tag.

The Coutura Kinetic Perpetual is capable of winding itself as you move your arm, which you do all day. As a result, this watch never needs its batteries replaced and is therefore about as green as it gets when it comes to time keeping devices. Once set, the calendar automatically adjusts for odd and even months including February of leap years all the way through February 28, 2100. Although the watch goes in to sleep mode after 24 hours of inactivity, the date and time continue to advance and will reset as soon as you give the watch a few shakes, even if it’s been set down for extended periods of time. Best of all, this sapphire crystal beauty is 100m water resistant, so when you accidentally drop it off your boat, you can spend all day diving for it without having to assume it’s broken.
