Mojave Desert Boot by J Shoes

Many times, some of our favorite items are those that find inspiration from years past.  It may be something that is inspired by an old cut of clothing, or something that was initially used by soldiers before becoming more main stream.  Desert boots first started showing up on the feet of British soldiers  who were stationed in Egypt during World War II.  Though the soldiers were only wearing them during their downtime, the boots started gaining popularity rather quickly.   After huge success in the 60’s and 70’s desert boots basically fell off of the radar until the last couple of years.  Luckily for us, many companies now feature a Desert Boot in their lineup.  One of our favorites is the Mojave ($145) by J Shoes.

J Shoes did everything right with their Mojave boot.  First and foremost, they kept things simple, just like a desert boot should be.  Second, they used great materials.  The tumbled leather upper is great quality, and somewhat no frills.  It is soft to start, and becomes even softer the more you wear the boots.  The crepe sole completes the classic look, and the leather toe strike adds a little something extra that we really like.  Even though J Shoes didn’t exist the first time this style was popular, they have certainly made up for lost time with the Mojave.
