Over the past few years, one brand that has really impressed us is Peter Millar. Not only is their golf line one of the best in the business, this relatively young brand has a top to bottom menswear collection that can rival just about anyone. Last week, we were fortunate enough to receive a pair of Peter Millar’s just released Portland pants, and today we’re happy to announce one lucky Bowties & Boatshoes reader is going to be receiving a free pair as well.

Recently, Esquire Magazine published their list of the 11 Best Men’s Stores in America. We’ve been fortunate enough to visit a few of the stores mentioned, and in all our travels we would absolutely agree that their top choice, Sid Mashburn, is THE best men’s store in America. If we had to pick one place to shop for the rest of our days, there is no doubt Mr. Mashburn would have our business. To read the rest of the list, click here.

This year we’ve come across more cotton/silk bows than ever before, and the look is one that we absolutely love. Apparently, our friend K. Cooper Ray down at Social Primer feels the same way, as the blend has made its way into his collection as well. One of our favorites is the Red/White Navy/White Repp Stripe Bow.

For quite some time we’ve had a bit of an infatuation with finding the right pair of corduroy shorts. You might say they’ve been somewhat of a unicorn for us. There are options out there, but, for the most part, finding a pair that is just right has been quite the challenge. Well, the hunt may have just ended for good thanks to our friends at Buffalo Jackson. Their recently released Bedford Cord Shorts are just what we’ve been looking for.

So it rained here yesterday, a lot. Like 7+ inches at the airport just up the road from us. Were we prepared? No. Did we have any rain gear with us at all? No. Did we look like wet dogs after running from the car to the office? Yes. Lesson learned. And now we’re using it as an excuse to pick up a raincoat we’ve had our eye on for quite some time, the Fremont Jacket from Helly Hansen.

Over the weekend, our twitter feed blew up with a string of tweets from our friends down at Old Try. See, they went ahead and took the wraps off of their latest line of t-shirts, and we have a feeling they’re going to be quite the hit. If you love America, love your state, and love super comfortable t-shirts, you’re going to want to pick up an Old Try America State Shirt ASAP.

We’re always happy to see emails hit our inbox that announce a collaboration between brands we know will get it right. Last week, we got something letting us know that Bills Khakis had teamed up with Rancourt & Co. for a small collection of shoes, and we were certainly pleased with what we saw; three shoes that look right at home in the collection of each company. Of course, our favorite is the Lewiston Boatshoe.

Before we know it, college football will be back and dominating sports coverage. We’re OK with that, but for now we are truly enjoying a great season from our beloved Orioles, and hoping that we still have something to be cheering about for a couple more months. In fact, we’re even thinking about adding some new gear to our collection in case of a possible playoff run. Yep, it may be time for us to pull the trigger on that Smathers & Branson Orioles belt we’ve been eyeing.
