Over the years we’ve been fortunate enough to be introduced to a number of fantastic brands, and also the people behind them.  Unfortunately, a competitive market, tough economy, or sometimes even bad luck has caused some of those whose products we really liked to have to close up shop.  That said, every once in a while one of those companies comes back to life.  One such company, Krass & Co. (formerly Krass & Funnell), relaunched yesterday afternoon.  To celebrate the occasion, one lucky Bowties & Boatshoes reader is going to win a Krass & Co. prize pack.

Patriots Day Print by Old Try

On April 15, 2013, in Home, by Ryan & Ben

Image: Old Try

When we first met the team behind Old Try, they told us that the prints they were making were their way of sending a love letter back to their respective homes of Alabama and North Carolina.  Today, their adopted home of Boston is the place that needs some love.  The events there this afternoon are truly a tragedy and the entire community is in our thoughts and prayers.

About an hour ago, Old Try announced they will be releasing their first New England themed print to raise funds for those effected by today’s events.  Named “Patriots Day” and based on the first flag of New England, this print isn’t limited, it isn’t a collaboration, it’s just their way of giving back.  All profits from these prints will go directly to those impacted by today’s attack.  Today, we’re all New Englanders.

*Update: We just learned that the print shop that brings all of the Old Try prints to life, Union Press, will be running these prints for free to make sure every penny possible can go to those in need.  As trying as these times may be, it’s great to see those who can help are doing everything they can to be there for those who need it most.  Our sincere thanks goes out to both companies.

Large Check Washed Sport Shirt by Peter Millar

Last week there were some great looks on the course at Augusta, and some that we wouldn’t be caught dead anywhere near.  In our opinion one brand that always has their players looking great is Peter Millar, and whether you are a golfer or not they will have you looking good too.  A piece that we love from their latest collection is one that has no ties to the golf course at all, it’s the Exploded Check Washed Sport Shirt.

Inspired by the play down at Augusta National this week, we finally dusted off our clubs and got out to the range to hit a few balls.  Let’s just say that a few more trips, and possibly a lesson or two to knock the rust off, will be needed before we head out to the course for an actual round.  In the meantime, we’re going to spend the weekend watching the Masters and giving away a fantastic golf themed prize pack thanks to our friends at Knot Belt Co. and Country Club Prep.

Last year, due to unseasonably warm temperatures, we literally had to hunt around the grounds of Augusta National to find an azalea that was still in bloom.  Apparently, even dump truck loads of ice poured on the roots couldn’t keep the gorgeous plants from coming to life prior to The Masters.  Even though we missed azaleas in all their glory, we still think of Amen Corner every time we lay eyes on the Augusta Pink Damask Beau by Starboard Clothing Co.  Today, we’re happy to announce that one lucky Bowties & Boatshoes reader is going to win this great looking tie.

When it comes to relaxing, high on the list of many are golfing and fishing.  While we prefer spending time in a tee box instead of with a tackle box, we’ve been known to happily spend a day with lines in the water and waiting for something to bite.  Regardless of how you spend your downtime, we have a feeling you’ll love the Augusta Green Polo from our friends at Fishtail.  If you want to win one, keep reading.

Though Augusta National is by far the most famous golf course in Georgia, did you know that America’s oldest golf course is located about two and a half hours Southeast in Savannah?  Neither did we until we read the description of one of the newest additions to Hudson Sutler’s lineup, the Savannah Commuter Duffel.  Today, we’re happy to announce that we’re celebrating the arrival of the Hudson Sutler Spring collection by giving one away.

Frederica Sunglasses by Red’s Outfitters

On April 9, 2013, in Eyewear, by Ryan & Ben

Atlanta is about a two hour ride from Augusta National, and we’d be lying if we said we hadn’t looked at last minute flights in case of an eleventh hour invite to The Masters.  While the odds of us heading down to Atlanta are slim (read none), the odds of something from Atlanta heading our way are pretty high.  That’s because we are about to place our order for a pair of Frederica Sunglasses from Red’s Outfitters.
