Back in November we finally took the plunge on a pair of chocolate suede loafers from Sid Mashburn down in Atlanta. They’ve seen some heavy wear over the last few months, but with warm weather just around the bend we’re thinking that these relatively dark brown shoes will probably be seeing less and less time in the rotation in the coming seasons. That said, we’re thinking the perfect stand in for Spring and Summer could be Mashburn’s Scotch Grain Penny Loafers.
Each and every month we look forward to the Ledbury Short Run shirting release. We are always interested to see what our friends from Richmond are bringing to market, and month after month we find ourselves impressed. This month is absolutely no different, and there are certainly some gems in the latest release. Our favorite this time around is the Barrett Box Check.
Yesterday we featured a collaboration from a couple of companies that have each been around long enough to be considered “old timers” as far as brands are concerned, Ray-Ban and Brooks Brothers. Today’s feature is another collaboration, and while the brands that came together to create these great looking prints may be in their infancy, we’d definitely consider them “old souls.” From our friends at Old Try and Buffalo Jackson come a pair of National Park prints that have us ready to pack up and head out West in search of adventure. Thanks to the gents behind the brands we’re happy to announce that one lucky Bowties & Boatshoes reader is going to the proud owner of the proprietors proof* of each one.
When it comes to sunglasses, we switch things up almost daily. Depending on what we’re wearing, what we have planned, or simply how we are feeling, our shades range from classic, to sporty, to whatever you might call the eyewear equivalent of go to hell pants. We all know that for a classic preppy look you can’t go wrong with a pair of Ray-Bans, but Brooks Brothers has taken that sentiment to a whole new level by adding repp stripes to two of our favorite silhouettes.
It’s a t-shirt kind of weekend here at Bowties & Boatshoes. With a few chores to knock out, a couple of errands to run, and not much else on the books, we’re looking forward to some much needed downtime over the next couple of days. Last week, our friends over at Country Club Prep posted what might be our favorite t-shirt design of the season. From Southern Point Co. comes the Periodic Table of the Southern Gentleman Tee.
Every once in a while we run across a bowtie that goes from unknown to must have in the blink of an eye. Sometimes it’s a fun design that makes us smile, and others it something simple that just seems to work. In the case of this week’s Bowtie Friday pick, it was the fact that it was the first time in ages that we had seen a patriotic tartan print in bowtie form. From our friends at Collared Greens comes the Galloway Red Bow.
