After months of holding out, and a few too many discussions about them, we were finally able to get our hands on a pair of shoes that are polarizing to say the least. An interesting blend of a wingtip and a running shoe, the Cole Haan LunarGrand ($248 – $278) is definitely a love or hate type of shoe, and after finally trying on a pair, our verdict is in. We love them.
Last year, we took a look at the Worton Weekender from our friends at Blue Claw Co. Nearly a year later, we’re yet to find a better weekend bag, and still use ours frequently. For everything from a quick roadtrip with friends, to a cross continental flight, you really can’t go wrong with the Blue Claw cornerstone. For those of you who weren’t to keen on the black/brown contrast of the original Weekenders, we have a feeling you’ll love the 00 Agent Edition ($298*).
Last year, we both became father’s for the first time, and welcomed a pair of little girls into our lives (yes, we are both outnumbered 2-1 at home). Being a dad is by far the hardest, yet most rewarding thing, either of us have ever done. In honor of Father’s Day this year, we’re taking it easy and enjoying time with our kiddos today. If you have some of your own, Happy Father’s Day! If not, call your dad and tell him you appreciate him putting up with all the hell you put him through over the years. Trust us, you may remember being an angel, but having gotten a glimpse from the other side, we realize more and more each day just how hard our Dad’s worked to help make us who we are today.

For the last few days, and going on through this weekend, Tall Ships from around the world are docked in Baltimore to celebrate the bi-centennial of the penning of the Star Spangled Banner at Ft. McHenry. They may call Annapolis the ‘Sailing Capital of the World’*, but the boats that are docked in Baltimore this weekend take things to a whole new level. We’re talking big time here, like 300 feet long big time. Anyway, it takes some serious lines to hold these boats in place, and in honor of the “Saliabration” we thought it was only fitting to feature some lines that you can wear from our friends at Lemon & Line.
There are a few things that always seem to draw us in when it comes to clothes and accessories. One is a red, white, and blue, color scheme. Another is an anchor. For whatever reason, if something has an anchor on it, we tend to like it. Our friend K. Cooper Ray didn’t know it when he was creating the Micro Anchor Stripe and Seersucker Gingham Bow ($65) for the Social Primer for Brooks Brothers collection, but he came up with a tie that is literally everything we could possibly ask for. Luckily for you, he wants to give one away.
The short sleeve button down shirt can be a bit tricky to pull off. With the wrong fit, or print, you run the risk of looking like anyone from Homer Simpson to the stereotypical nerd in just about any campy movie from the late eighties. That being said, with the right fit and print, a short sleeve button down shirt can be the absolute perfect choice for a hot summer day. If you’ve been leery of adding a short sleeve button down to your wardrobe, we’d recommend testing the waters with the Madras Club Collar Shirt ($45) from Lands End Canvas.
It’s no secret that we have a bit of an unhealthy obsession with shoes. In fact, we could probably go a couple of years without adding anything to the collection and be just fine, but what fun is that? With so many great shoes on the market we are always on the lookout for something that we “need”, and after browsing the offerings from Eastland, there is a good chance that their Yarmouth L/E Camp Moc ($120) may just be the next addition to our wardrobe.
It’s been about a year and a half since the team at johnnie-O reached out to introduce themselves to us, and we’ve really enjoyed seeing their brand grow. In one of the first email conversations, a bet was placed that their classic 4-button polo would quickly become one of our favorites, and let’s just say that they didn’t lose. To this day, the johnnie-O 4-button polo is still high on the list of most comfortable polos we own. Now, to celebrate the opening of their NYC Pop up Shop (501 Lexington Avenue), johnnie-O wants to give one of our readers an Ice Blue 4-button polo, and who are we to say no to that offer.
Thankfully, it’s been a few years since we have seen someone turn a visor backwards or upside down (seriously, what were these people thinking?), and it seems like we are seeing more and more visors being broken out every time we hit the golf course. In fact, we’re starting to see visors popping up away from the course as well, and we’ll chalk that up to so many solid options that are coming to market. Just last week, our friends at Atlantic Drift unveiled the latest addition to their visor collection, the Tailgate Visor ($24).
We’ve been running around like crazy as of late, and this weekend is shaping up to be a well deserved break from all chaos that has become our daily lives. For weekends like these comfort is key, and for the past couple of months, we’ve been turning to the same pair of shorts over and over when we’ve had some downtime. Yes, our Classic Lobster Shorts have officially become the “go to” for downtime at home. Now, thanks to the guys at Krass & Funnell, we are happy to announce that a Bows & Boats reader is going to be the recipient of a pair of Krass & Funnell shorts of their choice. Trust us, they’ll become your “go to” in no time at all.
