Last week, we mentioned that we have been hunting for a corduroy hat to add to our ever growing collection of corduroy clothing and accessories. Well, after hitting up a few local shops, and spending far too much time searching online, we have found the first of what might end up being a couple of corduroy hats in rotation this Fall: the Corduroy Whale Hat ($28) from Vineyard Vines.
The air is crisp, the leaves are falling, and we gearing up to spend another Saturday enjoying all that college football has to offer. There are plenty of games scheduled through the day that are interesting, but by far our attention is geared towards tonight’s match up of SEC powerhouses Alabama and LSU. Based on style alone, we are going to have to give the edge to Bama, there is just something about the prevalence of houndstooth in their stands that we love. Apparently, we aren’t the only ones who love the houndstooth look. Southern Marsh even integrated it into the Bama version of their Authentic Collegiate T-Shirts ($24).
After a long couple of weeks in the office, there are times when we have to shut down the laptops, turn off the iphones, and simply unplug from the digital world for a few hours. Normally we head to the golf course, but when we want to truly unwind we break out the tackle box and drop a line in the water to see what’s biting. Honestly, our fishing skills leave a lot to be desired, but we will never turn down the chance to relax near the water. Since we aren’t lucky enough to be spending today with a rod and reel, we are living vicariously through this week’s bowtie Friday pick, the Gone Fishin’ Bow ($55) from our friends at Bird Dog Bay.
For the last six weeks or so, we have been on a huge corduroy kick. Not only have a few new pairs of pants made their way into the rotation, we have found ourselves gravitating towards all kinds of different corduroy options. We haven’t gone so far as to pick up a corduroy jacket, but there is a pretty good chance that a hat and a shirt or two will find their way into our closet before the year is out. This past weekend, we saw something we weren’t too happy about, snow. Luckily, nothing stuck to the ground here in Annapolis, but to say that it was a bit disheartening to see the white stuff so early in the year would be an understatement. One thing we were happy to see this weekend was the reintroduction of the sweater dress to many girls’ wardrobes.
