Guys, have you picked up flowers, candy, a card, etc. for your special someone yet? If not, go do that and then come back and check out our Bowtie Friday pick of the week. Seriously, if you don’t cover the basics now, you’re probably not going to have a very enjoyable day tomorrow. In any case, we thought about not picking a Valentine’s themed bow this week, but what fun is that? Our pick this week is the Hearts Bow from Vineyard Vines.
Bottom line, our friends at Huckberry have one of the best curated collections on the web. Their ever changing list of products is simply fantastic, and we find something that we “need” every time we visit their site. Yesterday their annual winter clearance sale went live, and there are some absolute gems included in the event. Today we’re taking a look at some of our favorites.
Though you’ll find a ‘Nautical Prep’ subsection on the Brooks Brothers main page right now, we think the real Nautical Prep section is over in the Red Fleece department. This season’s Red Fleece lineup includes lots of navy and white, anchors, and even a nautical motif crewneck. One of our favorite pieces is the Cotton Stripe Mockneck Sweater.
L.L. Bean has seen a lot of press lately thanks to the shortage of Bean Boots, but, if you’ve been reading our site for a while, we’d like to think you already have a pair or two at the ready. Of course, L.L. Bean’s collection covers fare more than their famed boots, and our favorite subset is the Signature line. We’ve featured a number of Signature pieces over the years, but never a bag. Well, today that’s changing thanks to their Camo West Branch Tote.
Last night at the Grammys it was once again proven that everyone needs a black tux in their arsenal. Whether you need it once a year, or once a month, there is nothing worse than an ill fitting rental, and you definitely don’t need to show up in shorts (looking at you Pharrel) for a major event. Regardless of your budget, there’s a tux out there for you. Here are our picks.
We’re interrupting our regularly scheduled Bowtie Friday programming this week to make a public service announcement about an incredible giveaway that features a number of our favorite brands. It seems that we aren’t the only ones who are ready for Summer, and some of the best in the business have come together to make sure one lucky winner is going to be all set when temperatures begin to rise.
For one reason or another, the grey skies and cold temperatures are really taking a toll on us this year. Shoot, at this point we’d welcome snow just because it would brighten things up a bit. When Chubbies took the wraps off of their latest swimwear collection a few days ago, it was a nice reminder that this to shall pass. Our favorite? The Liberties. Yes, we realize that these were also available last year, so they’re not technically “new”, but they are still our favorite pair.
Last weekend, when it was a balmy 28° here in Annapolis, we drove by a local golf course and began to daydream about Spring. The daydream was quickly shattered when we realized a group of diehards were out in the tundra not only playing a round, but walking the course. We aren’t quite that dedicated, but if we do decide to sneak in a round before golf season officially arrives here on the East coast, you better believe we’ll be completing our on course ensemble with a Throwback Beanie from Criquet.
Down in Atlanta, our buddies at Country Club Prep are building quite the online empire in the world of preppy gear. Not only that, but they’ve opened the doors to two retail locations in the South East and we hear there are plans for more at some point down the line. The newest Country Club Prep brick and mortar store is located just off the bourbon trail in Lexington, KY.
For more than 100 years, Filson has been synonymous with high quality gear that will tackle the toughest challenges and look good doing it. Just last week they took the wraps off of the latest addition to their lineup, a collection of watches that are sure to maintain the Filson standard we’ve all come to expect from the team out in Seattle. Our favorite of the bunch is the Green Mackinaw Field Watch.
