We do our best to avoid talking politics here at Bowties & Boatshoes, everyone has their own opinion, and we’d be happy to have a discussion with just about anyone about our views, but this certainly isn’t the platform to talk about what we support and what we oppose.  That said, there is a movement going on down on Capital Hill today that we can absolutely get behind, and have a feeling each and every one of our readers can as well.  Gentlemen, National Seersucker Day is back in DC! One brand that is really embracing the reemergence of the celebration is Haspel.

The return of National Seersucker Day couldn’t have come at a better time for the team at Haspel.  See, more than 100 years ago Joseph Haspel Sr. introduced the first known seersucker suit to people in New Orleans who wanted to beat the heat and still look polished, and just this year his great granddaughter reignited the flame of the family business.  Of course,  one of the cornerstones of her first collection is a classic seersucker suit.  Available at select retailers, these suits have a bit of a modern cut, yet still maintain the timeless appeal that you should expect from a company who has been dealing with seersucker since 1909.  We’re not sure what’s next for the new generation of Haspel, but if it’s as solid as their seersucker, we’re going to be in for quite the treat.
